NYC Common Sense released the following statement regarding City Hall’s continued focus on the Israeli Prime Minister:
“City Hall’s misplaced focus on international politics is getting in the way of achieving what New Yorkers need: A mayor whose top priority is running the city, protecting health and safety, and improving quality of life for every resident and visitor. Getting involved in issues outside the mayor’s legal control and focusing on a single world leader when there’s a list of leaders who have committed grave human rights violations does not help make buses run faster, lower the rents, or clean the streets. The mayor’s selective outrage speaks volumes and raises more questions than it answers. The city faces mounting challenges – from flash flooding and homeless encampments to looming union contract negotiations and a housing crisis that the comptroller says has hit ‘DEFCON 1″ – yet the mayor is more interested in engaging in foreign affairs than in solving problems here at home. Political theater might be headline grabbing, but it isn’t making our city better. The mayor should stop posturing and turn his attention to actually doing the job he was elected to do. “
